Getting Started in VandySafe

First, click here to find out if your computer has everything needed to access VandySafe.

Operating System and Browser Advisory: 
 On a PC Windows computer, supported browsers include Internet Explorer and Firefox (www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/).
 On a MAC OS 10 computer, the supported browser is Firefox (www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/).  Safari is not supported.

Log on to VandySafe to take online training
  1. Go to www.vandysafe.com.
  2. Click on "Click here to login using your VUNet ID."
  3. Click "Login" under Vanderbilt University Web Authentication Service.
  4. Enter your VUNet ID and click "Enter."
  5. Enter your Vanderbilt e-password and click "Enter."
  6. Finally, click on "Click here to complete your secure login."
  7. You will see your "Training Home Page" that lists all training available for you to take.
If you do not know your VUnet id or password:

Your VUnet id is the same user name that you use to access your Vanderbilt email. If you do not currently have email, go to the VUNet Services web page (vunetid.vanderbilt.edu) to activate your VUnet id. When you have completed this process, you will learn your VUnet id. If you need further assistance with your VUNet ID or password, call the University Help Desk at 343-1631 or the Medical Center Help Desk at 343-4357.

Print Diploma To Document Your Training
  1. All mandatory training allows you to print a "diploma" to document your training once you have completed an assignment.  Click on the "DIPLOMA"  button to print a receipt for your completed training.  You can give a copy of this diploma to your supervisor to prove you have completed an assignment.
  2. Notice: 
    • The "Diploma" button will not show up on the screen until you have completed all of the lessons within a course.
    • The "Diploma" is in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) file format and your computer must have either Acrobat or the Acrobat Reader program in order to open the file.  The Acrobat Reader program is available free from the Adobe web site.

  2. Click on "New Users."
  3. Go through the "Introduction to VandySafe"  PowerPoint file or read the "Vandysafe Quick Reference" pdf file.
