X-Ray Safety
All x-ray machines must be registered with the State of Tennessee and inspected on a recurring basis as specified in 1200-2-10.27(3)(a) in State Regulations for the Protection Against
Radiation.
- Safety & Compliance Inspections
The
X-ray Safety Officer performs compliance inspections for all x-ray machines registered to Vanderbilt University and Medical Center. Frequency of inspection is based on the classification for the unit.
- Registration
If you have purchased a new x-ray machine, please contact the X-ray Safety Officer immediately so that the machine can be registered as soon as possible. (X-ray machines must be registered within ten working days of receipt or relocation.)
- Posting
All machines must be posted with a sticker that says "This machine produces ionizing radiation when energized." And entrances to rooms with fixed units must also be posted. If you need stickers, contact the X-ray Safety Officer.
